Perfect Pancake

Last Saturday was so fun!  We went to our friends' Tom and Sandy's home for a late dinner.  About fifteen people in all came and everyone was so nice and interesting.  We talked all night with some great friends.  This is the only party I have ever been to in my whole life where every single person danced all at the same time.  It was glorious!

Rolling up the rug to make more dance room, Henry decided he wanted to be rolled up into it.  Then Carlos decided to sit on him.  Tom & Sandy in the background taking a photo and laughing.

Those of you that have seen Daniel dance know that he is a great dancer.  He even did a moonwalk during Billie Jean that thoroughly impressed everyone.

Everyone stayed pretty late, getting to know each other, eating delicious food (We love when Sandy cooks!) and sharing some good wine.  These are definitely people we'll see again.  Carlos and his wife, Susanna gave us a lift home which was very sweet.  Daniel and I have become competent bus folk.

Earlier in the week it was cloudy and rainy which meant we spent a lot of time indoors.  We did see a few of our friends and made the most of this cold weather.  Sometimes we take two showers a day because we do not have heat in the house.  Then we wrap ourselves up in blankets and keep on keeping on.  The sun has joined us again and we've been on numerous walks and bike rides in a few short days.

We continue to have massive successes in the kitchen!  We've been inventing new meals and we're rather impressed with the outcomes.  Last night we enjoyed a puff pastry pot pan.  Since it was cooked in our brownie pan, we couldn't very well call it a pie.

Purple cauliflower has been a recent staple

The art of making pancakes has been a newly developed skill for us.  It is super simple and extremely delicious.  We make both sweet and savoury pancake meals.  Daniel usually makes the mix while I invent a sauce for dipping.  All kinds of combinations of veggies are made for savoury with a side of plain yogurt, wasabi, lemon juice and a touch of soy sauce.  This morning we tried white chocolate banana pancakes with yogurt, lemon juice, vanilla and honey for dipping.  There is talk of opening a pancake restaurant.

Yesterday was the fourth for us and we celebrated by going on a long walk.  Later we went on a bike ride and purchased some wine and potato chips.  (That's the celebration!)  Daniel had a meeting in the evening so we had a late supper and a dance party followed.  It was a great day.

A toast with red, white, and blue AND chips!

I asked Daniel what his ultimate 4th of July photo would be
This is what he gave me

 My ultimate July 4th photo
We didn't want them to make much sense

Since you are all watching fireworks right now, we decided to celebrate again by having a picnic in the park. We walked up to Dornoch hill by the gazebo and sat down on the grass to see the sights and share a meal.  The weather was perfect, and the birds kept us entertained.

It's a great view of the city

 Sunshine + food = A lovely afternoon

Hello Brisbane!

From the gazebo, we pose and cuddle

Daniel discovered a bench by a huge tree

Daniel took a snap of these flowers with his phone as we walked home.
 Sorta like fireworks.

Hopefully next year we'll be setting off fireworks with some of you!  We love and miss you; hope you're all feeling safe and free.
