Thanksgiving in Oz

E-mailing with my friend, April in Brisbane, I asked her whether we should celebrate Thanksgiving on the 22nd or the 23rd.  She suggested celebrating on Friday since that is when our families would also be enjoying massive amounts of food.  Our plan was to have a small meal together in our room and maybe play some cards.  It would be a quiet year this time.  I actually ended up cooking for five people.  It was sort of last minute so a grocery store run had to be done!

I made my potato dish, a big green salad, and Daniel helped me do a faux turkey roast with a rosemary and mint rub.  Glisten and her kids ate chicken.

Less than half of this huge pepper was necessary for the dish.

Usually my Mom is my sous chef; this time a glass of wine helped me.

Cooking is like arts and crafts for me.

After dinner the adults sat around sipping wine and having great conversations.  It was a good, mellow evening, and we were feeling thankful.

Plus, my Mom was sending me photos from her day, and my sister, Janelle was giving text-email updates.  Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone!  We're grateful for the love shared with you all.
